Happiness Is Dean Martin: A Playlist
Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head

but there’s one thing I knowthe blues they send to meet mewon’t defeat me, it won’t be longtill happiness steps up to greet me

Smile

light up your face with gladnesshide every trace of sadness although a tear may be ever so nearthat’s the time you must keep on trying

Everybody Loves Somebody

everybody finds somebody someplacethere’s no telling where love may appearsomething in my heart keeps sayingmy someplace is here

Dream

so dream, when the day is throughdream and they might come truethings never are as bad as they seemso dream, dream, dream

My Melancholy Baby

every cloud must have a silver liningwait until the sun shines throughsmile my honey dear, while I brush away each tearor else I shall be melancholy too

When You’re Smiling

so stop your sighing, be happy againkeep on smilingcause when you’re smilingthe whole world smiles with you

Whenever I’m feeling upset, these are a few of my go-to Dean songs that never fail to bring a smile to my face and I thought I would share this playlist with you guys. (Although I’m sure if you’re a Dean fan, you already have all of these songs in your possession.) We, well at least I do, spend so much time looking for the next new thing that we tend to forget about the songs that caused us to fall in love with an artist in the first place. I just wanted to take a moment to celebrate some of those songs.

"Dean Martin is probably my dearest friend…Dean is a very sweet and gentle man. I envy Dean’s gentleness. He really is. A patient, gentle man, a great father. Generous."

"Even gray was iffy [at night]. Only the deepest of charcoals were barely permissible; lighter shades were not. Dean felt the same way—he shared most all Sinatra predilections of dress. He and Frank wandered onto the set of The Tonight Show in October 1965, wearing black, only to find guest host Joey Bishop, Ed McMahon, and most of the band in pale grays. ‘We wanna sk you fellas—what are you doin’ with the gray clothes on?’ said Frank. ‘This is a midnight show! You only go out in daytime with these gray suits.’ Dean went further: ‘You guys should be in the balcony. You’re supposed to get all dressed for The Tonight Show—and you come out in gray! Yecchhhh!’ Blue was wrong for after-hours too, unless it was midnight blue. A man, they believed, should blend in with the black sky."
